Gant is looking for an analytical and commercially minded Business Controller to join our North Finance team in Stockholm.
The role
The overall objective of the role is to support the Nordic Retail & Wholesale business with analysis to ensure better decision-making and business development.
As a Business Controller, you will play an important role in providing financial insights, reporting and analysis to support the Nordic Retail & Wholesale organisation. You will work closely with Retail and Wholesale Management, Finance and other key stakeholders to understand business performance, identify opportunities and support informed commercial decisions.
This is a broad and hands-on role where you will work with everything from sales and margin analysis to P&L reporting, forecasting, stock and KPI follow-up — always with the aim of turning data into meaningful business insights.
Key responsibilities
Support the Nordic Retail & Wholesale business with financial analysis and insights
Contribute to driving sales by providing regular sales updates and analysis
Analyse business performance through financial KPIs and ratios
Prepare and follow up on P&L reporting for our own stores
Analyse sales, discounts and margins across different sales channels, including stores, outlets and e-commerce
Support Retail with lease reviews, cost-benefit analyses, what-if scenarios and analysis of variances to budget and previous years
Prepare and communicate daily and weekly Retail KPIs and sales reports
Contribute to the monthly Sales Flash and provide Retail sales analysis
Prepare monthly P&L reporting for Retail and support reporting to the CFO
Perform monthly margin and discount analysis across sales channels
Conduct monthly stock analysis and support stock management
Ensure correct rent and sales-based rent calculations
Support the CFO and Finance team in the budgeting and forecasting process, with a particular focus on sales and margin
Support the Buying department with financial analysis when needed
Support Marketing with budget and cost follow-up and ROI calculations
Work closely with Retail and Wholesale Management and Operations to ensure effective financial follow-up and KPI communication
Collaborate across the organisation to provide relevant financial insights and support business development
Profil
Who are you?
We are looking for someone who is analytical, structured and commercially curious, with a genuine interest in understanding how a retail and wholesale business works and what drives its performance.
You enjoy working with numbers and Excel, but you also want to understand the story behind the numbers and how your analysis can support better business decisions.
We believe you have:
A university degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration or equivalent
Experience in Business Controlling is an advantage, preferably within retail and/or wholesale. We value the right mindset, potential and commercial understanding over a specific number of years of experience.
Good accounting knowledge and a strong understanding of P&L and financial performance
Strong analytical skills and excellent attention to detail
Very good Excel and Microsoft Office skills
Experience with SAP, QlikView and/or HFM is considered a plus
A structured and organised way of working
The ability to make complex analysis clear, relevant and easy to understand
A genuine interest in business and what drives sales, margin and profitability
The ability to manage both smaller day-to-day tasks and larger projects
A hands-on and solution-oriented approach
Strong communication and collaboration skills
A positive attitude and the ability to work effectively in a fast-moving and dynamic environment
Fluency in both Swedish and English, written and spoken, is required
The position is based in Stockholm and is a full-time permanent position with an initial probationary period.
